Transparency international Uganda is the national chapter of Transparency International – The global Coalition against corruption. It is a registered non governmental organization working to create change towards a Uganda free of corruption and its effects. Its jurisdiction is country wide and addresses all forms of corruption with specific emphasis on Grand and political corruption. Background TI Uganda was founded in 1993 as a pressure group to bring together people’s voluntary initiatives to enhance accountability, transparency and integrity among all Ugandans. The organization has since grown from a mere pressure group whose membership was largely composed of lawyers and eminent Ugandans to an autonomous civil society organization registered with the Uganda NGO Board. The organization was accredited in 1996 as the National Chapter in Uganda to transparency International whose headquarters are in Berlin, Germany. Vision A Uganda in which the daily lives of people are free of corruption Mission To promote consciousness about corruption and its effects and a society that espouses value systems and principles of transparency and accountability. Goals · A Ugandan society sensitized about corruption and its effects · A vibrant anti corruption social movement in all sectors of society · A society with up right morals and adheres to principles of transparency and accountability · An increased citizen participation in the fight against corruption Values and Core principles TI Uganda’s values and principles are also the measure of its effectiveness and influence on society.
